SCFD Encourages Cultural Organizations To Apply For Eligibility
The Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) is currently accepting applications from organizations seeking eligibility for funding. There is no deadline, but to ensure that applications can be reviewed, processed, and approved prior to the 2006 grant deadlines, SCFD would like to receive eligibility applications by Friday, Dec.30. Applications should be submitted to SCFD, 899 Logan St., #500, Denver, CO 80203.

SCFD facilitates the distribution of over $30 million in tax funds annually to organizations that provide for the enlightenment and entertainment of the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement or preservation of art, music, theater, dance, zoology, botany, natural history, or cultural history.

Denver Botanic Gardens’ 2005 Holiday Sale Promises Unique Gifts
The Denver Botanic Gardens’ 42nd Annual Holiday Sale will kick the holiday season into high gear Friday and Saturday Nov. 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a wide variety of unique gift items for sale that you won’t find in malls. More than 40 new and returning vendors will showcase their wares at this year’s event. Items for sale include jewelry and hand-knit scarves, natural skin and bath products, wood folk art and imported pashmina shawls and handloom rugs. Black American West Museum Seeks Volunteers
Did you know that three out of five cowboys were a person of color? Would you like to learn the history of the Great American Black Western Migration and the stories of brave miners, pioneers, buffalo soldiers, and notable Black Western figures? Sorority Hosts Fun Blackhawk Day To Support Golden Pearls

CAP Hosts Holiday Prelude Event
To celebrate the season, the Colorado AIDS Project is hosting Holiday Prelude, its annual end-of-the-year occasion, on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Johnson & Wales University, 7150 E. Montview Blvd. in Denver. The evening includes complimentary signature martinis created by Cîrok, a glorious dinner prepared by award-winning chefs, and decadent desserts. Shadow Theatre Company Announces 2005/2006 Season
The Shadow Theater Company (1420 Ogden St., Denver) released their upcoming show lineup for the 2005 / 2006 season. The first show in the lineup is the regional premiere of Emergence-See!, written and performed by Daniel Beaty. There are only four performances for this show, held at DU’s beautiful Newman Center for the Performing Arts (University and Iliff) on December 1-3, and a 3 p.m. matinee on Dec. 4. There will be an opening night black tie reception; reservations for the reception are $100. Other shows in Shadow’s line up include Visions: A Tribute to August Wilson, adapted by Jeffrey Nickelson and directed by Michael R.
