Dance Concert at Five Points Theater Honors Marceline Freeman
Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble will present "MARCELINE... THE JOURNEY – A Celebration of Living Legend of Dance Marceline Freeman” during two long weekends from Sept. 20 to 30. The fall dance concert will celebrate the ongoing dance and teaching career of Freeman, who has been with the ensemble for more than three decades. In the photo below, Freeman dances “Valley of the Nile" in a 2000 concert.
The concert dates are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays on Sept. 20 to 22 and Sept. 27 to 29, with show times at 8 p.m. Matinee shows are on Sundays, Sept. 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. The venue is the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theatre at 119 Park Avenue West in Denver's historic Five Points community.
"This is the first time we have presented a major concert in our own theater in almost 10 years. We are honored to celebrate the continuing artistry of Ms. Marceline Freeman, principal dancer, teacher, and rehearsal director who is referred to as ‘the muse’ by some of the world's leading choreographers,” said ensemble founder and executive artistic director Cleo Parker Robinson.
“Marceline has been the backbone, mentor, and guide of my company for over 35 years, and we are so happy to celebrate her right here in our own community and our own house."
“Featuring some of Ms. Freeman's most historic roles, this concert will also debut ‘Sincerely Katrina Jones’ by exciting new choreographer Millicent Johnnie,” Robinson added.
All seats are general admission. The ticket price for adults is $28, and for children, students, and seniors is $18. Group rates are available through the box office.
