“Well-behaved women rarely make history.”

Clearly, Rachel B.Noel, the woman of our cover story for Women’s History Month, would be considered less than “well behaved.” She was at the forefront of the civil rights movement in Colorado, precipitating a major lawsuit that led Denver to be the first city outside the South to have court-ordered desegregation. Her battles were many, and her victories a blessing for us all. Other profiles, such as Dianne Reeves, Cleo Parker Robinson and Elbra Wedgeworth, introduce you to history making women of both political and artistic vision and strength. Also, DUS takes a look at a rarely addressed issue: the elusive relationship between Black and Hispanic women. It is an article we hope will provide for thoughtful discussion.

DUS also takes a look into the lives of gang members and the difficulties of living in and out of gangs. It is an ongoing problem in Colorado’s metro areas, and the issues are many while the solutions remain elusive.

Black History Month is officially over, but allow DUS to help you celebrate it year-round. Happy Springtime.

Peace and Blessings,
Dante
