McGill Receives October “9Teachers Who Care” Award
9NEWS and CollegeInvest are pleased to honor Paulette McGill, a special education teacher at The Children’s Hospital Medical Day Treatment Program in Denver, with the October “9Teachers Who Care” award. The Medical Day Treatment Program, in partnership with Denver Public Schools, is a multi-disciplinary outpatient school program that focuses on academic, medical and psychosocial needs of these children. McGill’s teaching philosophy is that every child, regardless of their disability, should be given a chance for success. This isn’t an easy task, as each child requires a different approach to learning. Sometimes a student’s desk becomes their hospital bed as McGill brings the classroom to them.
Anyone can nominate a teacher for the 9Teachers Who Care award. For more information or for nomination forms, call 303-871-1899 or visit www.9news.com.
