Annual King Trimble Senior Tea & Roses Event Present Community Service Awards
District 8 Councilwoman Elbra Wedgeworth presented awards at the 5th Annual King M. Trimble, Esq. Senior Tea and Roses event on July 20 at the City Park Pavilion.
"This event continues to honor the public service and legacy of a great man who served this community with distinction, King M. Trimble," Councilwoman Wedgeworth said. Last year, the Denver Housing Authority-Curtis Park/HOPE VI Community Center was renamed in honor of King M. Trimble, Esq.
During the Senior Tea program the following individuals were given awards for their contributions to the community: Grace Stiles and Charles "Charlie" Burrell were presented with Senior Awards. Business Awards went to Dawn Bookhardt, Bookhardt & O'Toole LLC and Pat Hammill with Oakwood Homes. And, Commander Rhonda Jones and District 2 Police and Commander Deborah Dilley and District 6 Police were presented with this year's Community Awards.
Scholarship Awarded To Manual Graduates
Jalieia Cole and Rudy Manis Jr., two Manual High School seniors were selected as recipients of the 2006 John W. and Edna Wilson Mosley Scholarship. The scholarship fund was established by the Mosleys to help African American students in Denver attend their first year at a college or university of their choice. The students received a $2,000 scholarship and a laptop computer. In 2005, The Denver Foundation awarded $27 million to nonprofit organizations.

DOCA Announces New Public Art Administrator And Program Administrator
The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs recently announced the hiring of two new staff members. Kendall Peterson has been selected as the new Public Art Administrator. Julie Rodriguez has been hired as Program Administrator for Architecture and Literary Initiatives, a new position in the office. Denver native Peterson comes to the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs from Los Angeles, where she produced films for National Geographic and the Discovery Channel.
Rodriguez has an extensive background in project management, marketing and fundraising from her work at Mile High Montessori and the Colorado School of Mines. |
